Parents' Association Our Parents’ Association is integral to the success of Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcáin (GSCD). All parents and guardians of children attending GSCD are part of the Parents’ Association.
Cairde - Parents' Association Committee Within the GSCD Parents’ Association, we have a Committee that plays an important role in supporting the partnership between the school and the children’s parents. The purpose of the Parents’ Association Committee, CAIRDE is to support the school by organising activities and social events for children and parents, and to fundraise where possible.
Committee members Currently Cairde is made up of 12 parents. It is comprised of a diverse group of people with many different skills who work well together in trying to achieve the very best for our school. To find out more about us we would love you to join us at the next Cairde meeting or feel free to nab us for a chat if you see us around the school!!
What the committee does One of the main objectives for Cairde is to support the parents, guardians, children and teachers within our school community. This is achieved by organising many events throughout the year. Cairde aims for a balance between social activities, fundraising events, and school engagement, meeting once a month to discuss and plan such events and activities.
Here are just a few examples of Cairde led fundraising/volunteering initiatives over the past few years:
• Pumkin Patch • Christmas Fair • Book Fair • Pancake Day • Valentines Raffle • Summer Fair
Cash for clothes
Class Calenders
• Supporting our Muinteoir’s with class photographs, junior infant meet and greet day, sports day, CoVid 19 marshalls, Rang 6 Graduations, sponsored walk, decorating the school for all occasions and making ourselves available to support the school whenever required.
Why join Cairde? Being a member of the Cairde enables parents to gain greater insight into their child’s school life and learning. It also gives parents an opportunity to work together towards improving our school community.
How to become a member? The committee holds an annual general meeting at the beginning of each school year, where new Cairde members are nominated and confirmed. Please contact Cairde if you are interested in joining the committee, email: cairdegscd21@gmail.com or message either Paula or Jenny directly.
Can’t become a member but still want to get involved? We understand that not all parents can commit time to Cairde. However, there are plenty of other opportunities to get involved. Frequently, Cairde seeks support from parents and guardians for events, we would love if we had a list of parents we could call on for such events. If this sounds like something you would be interested in please mail cairdegscd21@gmail.com or message Paula or Jenny directly.
Finally, some suggested ways of staying in touch with Cairde and keeping up to date with news and information regarding the school community: • Join your class WhatsApp, each group has an individual class rep that will be happy to assist with any questions or queries you may have • Visit our School Website: www.gscd.ie • Like the School Facebook Page • Join the parents info WhatsApp group • Email the Parents Association Committee: cairdegscd21@gmail.com
Cairde Vision Cairde are working to ensure that every child in GSCD has the opportunity to reach their full potential and have fun while doing so!!
Cairde Mission Cairde exists to ensure that all parents are supported and have an opportunity to stay in touch and up to date with all events and occasions within GSCD, by doing this we believe it enables parents to become effective partners in their children’s education. Cairde will work to increase fundraising which in turn we hope will provide some extra equipment and help to facilitate any extra’s that are required in GSCD.
Cairde Values Cairde knows that when parents and schools work together, children do better. Therefore Cairde believes the following:
We believe parents must be actively engaged in the education of their children.
We believe parents should be viewed as partners in facilitating their children's learning.
We believe parents voices should be ‘heard’ in the decisions that affect their children and ultimately their family.
We believe parents should be welcome in the school (once adhering to up to date Government CoVid Guidelines), and their support and assistance should be noted as valuable resource to support children's education in the school.
We believe all communication and dialogue with parents must be regular, open, two-way and meaningful.
We believe as a parents association we should be available to support and help our teacher’s, to plan and execute events that will bring extra funds to our school and most importantly to play a part in making our children’s school day’s happy and memorable.
Be Brave, Be Creative, Be Kind, Be Thankful, Be Happy, BeYou!!!!
